I'm inclined to agree Echo Mouse. I admire the way the authorities in NY wanted to treat him as any other offender, but I nearly didn't post it as the press attention is being cruel to him.

I should add, and I think Boy George has made a similar point, that sweeping the streets is a perfectly honourable profession. So there's someting a bit perverse in a society that sees this a punishment.

They should have made him do volunteer work in a thrift shop, pricing up unwanted CDs of Culture Club...
